Seed and Sheaves

If you have followed this blog very long, you realize I have a fascination for the meanings of words.  Here I go again..
I need this one today~This word, Gumption
  • Courage, also known as bravery, fortitude, will, and intrepidity, is the ability to confront fear, pain, risk/danger. ...
  • Energy of mind and body, enthusiasm; Boldness of enterprise; initiative or aggressiveness, guts; spunk; initiative
~I also need to keep reminding myself of The Faith that Works quote for the year:
“Be faithful in the small things, for therein lies your strength.”  Mother Teresa
And , a scripture God revealed to me this weekend:
Psalm 126
“When the Lord brought back the captives to Zion, we were like men who dreamed, our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy.  Then it was said among the nations, The Lord has done great for them, The Lord has done great things for us, and we were filled with joy.  Restore our fortunes, O Lord like streams in the Negev.  Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.  He who goes out weeping carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him.”
There has seemed to be a theme in my life of late-something about seeds, small things, staying faithful, and gumption.  I sit here this morning , asking God for gumption, telling him I am afraid, and knowing my God will supply all of my needs! As in the Psalm “those who sow seeds of tears will reap with songs of joy!”  BUT- IT also says, “Goes out weeping carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him.”
Oh, I feel another definition coming on...from the bible dictionary
The sheaves are piled about the threshing-floors until threshing time, which may be several weeks after harvest. It is an impressive sight to see the huge stacks of sheaves piled about the threshing-floors, the piles often covering an area greater than the nearby villages.
So, God is telling me today..tears are not in vain, sowing seeds during the sorrow.  Get busy, there are seeds to sow today!

I read this blog a few days ago, and that word, "gumption" kept coming up in my mind as I have encountered obstacles throughout my day. God has used it to remind me that I don't have to accept defeat, and that by stepping out in faith He will always meet my needs. God is faithful! :)
